How To Unleash Your Superpowers

Have you ever heard stories of someone doing something superhuman, and wondered how they did it?
Take superhuman strength, for example. Superhuman strength has been recorded thousands of times throughout the course of human history, but it’s still an undeniably rare occurrence. So much so that many believe superhuman strength to be a myth – even though the phenomenon is backed by hundreds of anecdotes, as well as scientific fact.
Let’s take a look at a recorded case of superhuman strength from April of 1982. When a Angela Cavallo heard the cries of her son coming from the driveway outside of her home, she was astounded to see him pinned under his 1964 Chevrolet Impala. Her son, Anthony Cavallo II, had been working on his car when the jack slipped. The car fell to the ground, pinning him between the top of the rear wheel and the fender of the car – an 1814 kg (4,000 lb) muscle car. She lifted the corner of the car to prevent her son from suffocating from the weight, while her other son ran to get help.
Let’s put this into perspective: the current world record for a deadlift is 457.5 kg (1,008.6 lb). This record is also held by a man who has focused on strength training and deadlifting for his entire adult life. According to the story above, a woman (who describes herself as “5’ 8” [172.72 cm], large-framed and strong”) with no strength training was able to lift over 4 times the international deadlifting record. Not only did she lift this weight, but held it for over 5 minutes (according to witnesses).

If you’re asking yourself how this is possible, you are not alone. Superhuman strength can be explained by science to some degree, but what allows us to achieve it is largely a mystery to the general public. Some believe it’s the rush of adrenaline, but wouldn’t it be more common if it was simply the result of a chemical rush?
Contrary to popular belief, not all superhuman tales have been explained by science. Many Indian Yogis have shown that our biological needs are no match for our internal superhuman powers. One in particular is world-renowned for his unique diet: oxygen.
Like much of the public, scientists were baffled when Prahlad Jani, an Indian Yogi, claimed that he hadn’t consumed food in over 70 years. The average human dies from starvation at just over three weeks without food, so to most this claim sounds unimaginable. In addition, he doesn’t consume any liquids – including water.
After two clinical trials (in 2003 and 2010), doctors have confirmed that the Yogi’s claims are indeed fact, not fiction. They’re baffled by his lifestyle, and wish to know more about how he achieves such an existence. What’s perhaps the most astounding about the Yogi’s case is not his lifestyle, but his health. The doctors have confirmed that his organs function with the reliability and gusto of the average 25 year old – even at 82 years of age.
Superhuman powers can be seen all around us. Many believe that superhuman powers are given at birth, or are given to us by a god or deity in moments where it is needed most. These explanations settle the curiosity of many, but in reality they leave many important details out of the picture.
There’s this age-old question we often ask others to understand them better. You’ve probably been asked which super power you would like the most over 100 times in your life, and you’ve probably got an answer ready for anyone that asks. But what if you really could have those powers? Then you’re in luck, because you can.
Super powers come from within. The human mind is the most powerful thing within our realm of existence, and it has absolutely no limits. Everything you think you can do, everything you think you can’t do is all in your mind. Whether it’s walking on water or starting that business you’ve always dreamed of creating, your limitations exist only within your mind. Once you’ve rid yourself of these limitations, you can release your inner super powers.
Releasing your inner super powers is about more than desire – it’s about faith, focus, and knowledge. We as humans seek faith in the world around us; whether we seek religion, relationships, or steady jobs, we’re seeking something in which we can have faith. And that’s where unleashing your super power begins: by having faith in yourself.
Your mind is your own, and you have full control over what it can do. Some Yogis have claimed to control their heartbeat and internal temperature using their mind alone; other individuals can raise and lower their cholesterol at will in the same way. There’s nothing about these individuals that makes them any different than you or I, except that they have full control over their mind. They believe in themselves, and they have faith in what they are capable of achieving using their mind alone.
Take this into consideration: If the woman above had any doubt in her mind about lifting the car, would she have been able to lift it? If she saw the car and said to herself, “I can’t lift that, my son is going to die,” she wouldn’t have been able to lift it. She had belief in herself, and summoned what was needed to achieve the task at hand – in this case, lifting a car to save a life. She visualized what needed to be done, and achieved it despite the perceived odds.
Believing yourself requires the absence of negativity. Doubt is your biggest enemy, and it’s keeping you from releasing your inner super power. When I say super power, I’m not only referring to superhuman strength or surviving on oxygen; everyday struggles such as job interviews and marital problems often require superpowers to overcome. If you want to be a better interviewer for example, eliminate any and all feelings of doubt about your interviewing skills. This doubt will manifest itself in your mind, and will prevent you from achieving your highest potential. Vision how you want to perform in the interview room, and make it happen. Have faith in yourself, and you’ll notice a pattern of success begin to emerge.
In addition to doubt, indecision has no place in the mind of a superhero. Doubt and indecision work hand in hand to suppress your super powers, lowering you to a standard of existence you have every right to rise above. Control over your mind comes not only with faith in yourself, but with concentration on the task at hand. Discipline is one of your most important tools in achieving a superhero life, and you’ll need to embrace it and practice it each and every day. Discipline requires focus, and focus is the key to unlocking your greatest potential. Have faith in yourself, and really focus on what it is you want to achieve. Don’t change your long-term goals from day-to-day; follow your heart and focus on what it’s telling you – it knows better than what you may hear from others.
The final key to unlocking your super powers comes from a practice we should all take part in each and every day: meditation. Establishing your mental powers and accessing your inner superhero doesn’t come from watching motivational videos on the internet, it comes from a connection with your subconscious mind. Your subconscious will tell you more about who you are and what your purpose is than any of your conscious thoughts ever could.
Personal change doesn’t develop from the conscious mind, it develops from the subconscious. Our subconscious controls our conscious thoughts and behaviors, shaping them like an artist shapes pottery. Our conscious is a reflection of our subconscious, but our conscious has little control over our subconscious. If this sounds complicated, have no fear, for the answer can be summed up in one word: meditation.
When we meditate, we access our subconscious mind in a way we cannot throughout our normal day-to-day activities. We can access our subconscious mind, and in this way balance ourselves as individuals. Meditation provides us with an escape from our day-to-day life, allowing us to focus on what truly matters to ourselves and our wellbeing. By meditating, we can eliminate stress, eliminate disease and mental illness, and free ourselves from the confines of our conscious mind.
Next time you read about a superhuman feat of strength or mental prowess, think about how you can manifest that potential in your own life. We are all born with boundless potential, but we exist in a world centered around “inside-the-box” living and thinking. Through faith in yourself, focus, and meditation, you can break down this box and achieve truly anything you wish. We are all born with superpowers, but it’s up to us to take the steps necessary to manifest them.
